Murderer Chris Watts Is Getting Tons Of Prison Letters From Women Following Netflix Documentary

Murderer Chris Watts, whose murders featured in recent Netflix documentary American Murder: The Family Next Door, has received an influx of letters from women since the movie premiered.

Watts, 35, is currently serving a life sentence after pleading guilty to killing his pregnant wife Shanann, and their two daughters Bella and Celeste.

According to reports, Watts strangled his wife, who was 15-weeks pregnant, in their Colorado home.

He then drove her body to a job site at the oil company where he worked and disposed it.

Watts then smothered his two daughters—Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3.

Authorities said Watts committed the murders because he was having an affair with a co-worker. Watts had lied to the secret lover that he had divorced.

After admitting to the brutal murders, Watts received a life sentence in prison.

However, despite his gruesome crimes, he’s been receiving multiple letters from women since being locked up.

A source who has spoken with Watts in jail revealed:

He got a lot of letters at first. Many of them are from women who thought he was handsome and felt compassion for him.

He had nothing better to do, so he wrote them back. And he started having penpals. A couple of them stood out, and they’ve kept in contact.

The source added:

Believe it or not, no. They have compassion for him, despite what he did.

And following American Murder: The Family Next Door arriving on Netflix, the source said the letters Watts receives have increased.

Some of the letters are angry. A lot of them are from people of faith who want to pray for him.

But then he gets letters from women who want to connect with him, you know, romantically. He responds because he doesn’t have anything better to do.

While the source wouldn’t clarify exactly how many letters Watts has received, following the documentary’s release, they said it has been ‘more than 10.’

The outlet also noted Watts is in protective custody and only leaves his cell for an hour a day for exercise and showers. He is not eligible for parole, too.

Watts’ grotesque murders were previously the subject of two Lifetime films that aired earlier this year: Chris Watts: Confessions of a Killer and Beyond the Headlines: The Watts Family Tragedy.

Last year, the true-crime network, Investigation Discovery, also explored the murders in a documentaryFamily Man, Family Murderer: An ID Murder Mystery.
